Revitalizing Rural Town "Main Street" Economies through the Infusion of Green Technologies and Sustainable Community Practices
What is EES?
EES is a women-owned Edgefield non-profit, committed to educating, coordinating, demonstrating, and promoting the use of sustainable technologies and practices in rural America. As an educational center, we create the opportunity for building programs through grant writing and outreach. We design, procure funding and launch a variety of programs and projects. We serve as an incubator for the application of sustainable practices to the community.
EES is a proud co-sponsor of "Monica's Corner", a sustainable resource and training center created under a grant from the RSA (next tab).
What is a Sustainable Community?
A Sustainable community is a Self-Reliant one, living in harmony with the land and preserving its future use for our grandchildren . It is also one that is "resilient", and will not “fall to pieces” if there is a power outage from a storm or fire, a fuel shortage or a major crop failure or transportation strike. It just makes good sense to be prepared and have backup plans. We are a part of the national effort to integrate renewable energy and sustainable land use practices to ease the strain on our overburdened utilities, infrastructure and natural resources.
